Finally I can share this amazing coconut yogurt recipe!
Yogurt is one of the most familiar fermented foods and have a lot of health benefits for our body, such as boosting immune system, promoting healthy digestion, skin, and anti-inflammation!

Don't know how to make it properly?
Don't worry!
This recipe is super easy and you don't need any special equipments like a yogurt maker or a thermometer!

All you need is:

  • Good quality of coconut yogurt
  • Good quality of probiotic
  • One clean hygenic glass bowl
  • One wood spoon

Firstly, let me tell you something very important for you to make coconut yogurt at home!

COCONUT MILK
Regarding coconut milk, although I've mentioned a little on my old post when I shared coconut curry recipe, the quality of coconut milk is important for specifically yogurt!!!

◎HOW TO CHOOSE COCONUT MILK FOR YOGURT◎

  1. Choose coconut milk with no additives! The one with guar gum may disturb the ability of fermentation that probiotics do.
  2. Use canned coconut milk, not in carton! To make creamy and firm yogurt, use canned coconut miolk instead of carton. Coconut milk in carton is generally too liquid and doesn't make it as firm or creamy as the canned one.
  3. Full Fat coconut milk! If using light coconut milk, it won't make it creamy too much. It may turn out too liquidy coconut yogurt.

Please look closely at the package of coconut milk when buying one or more! If you follow these 3 points, you may be able to make delicious coconut yogurt with any brands of coconut milk ! :)

This is canned coconut milk that I personally think is one of the best so far.
If organic is a bit too much for you, they also have original coocnut milk which is a bit cheaper than the organice one.

PROBIOTICS
Choose the good quality of probiotics for the better yogurt if possible!

  • Don't use old probiotics
  • Add at least 10 billion bacteria, depending on how much of yogurt you make



This is probiotic that I've been relying on for a long time!

  • Gluten Free
  • Non-GMO
  • Soy Free

Not only is it great for making yogurt, but also you can take it on a daily basis as supplement! When using it for yogurt, don't forget to take powder out of the capsule!

4 KEY POINTS TO MAKE A SUCCESS MAKING PERFECT YOGURT

  1. Good quality of coconut milk
  2. Good quality of probiotics
  3. Sanitize a GLASS bowl with hot water
  4. Use WOOD spoon. When I made coocnut yogurt with stainless steal spoon, it ended up being failed with almost 90% possibility! Thus, using wood spoon to stir coconut milk is one of the most crucial points that you want to follow.

Coconut milk + Probiotic

Coconut milk + Probiotic

First, transfer coconut milk into a clean glass jar.
If coconut water and milk are separated when opened, stir well with a wood spoon.
Put 1 capsule of 50 billion probiotic into the jar, and mix well.
Cover the jar with a cheese cloth and ferment in a warm room for at least 12 hours.
What I do is to place it into an oven with light on (but oven remain off)
After 12 hours, check your yogurt. Though the coconut milk becomes very watery, if sourly smell, it means it's fermented properly. 
Put it in a fridge, and yogurt will become firm and creamy!

Add some chia seed after fermentation as desire! I love this combination of chia seed, yogurt and fruits!

Vegan🌱Homemade Coconut Yogurt
INGREDIENTS (800ml)
2 cans of full fat coconut milk
2 capsules of 50 billion probiotics

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Sanitize your glass bowl and wood spoon.
  2. Transfer cooconut milk into the bowl.
  3. Stir well with wood spoon to mix water and milk.
  4. Put probiotics into the bowl and stir.
  5. Cover with a cheese cloth.
  6. Leave it for at least 12 hours in a warm place. (in an oven with light-on) 
  7. When sour, put it into a fridge.
  8. Enjoy however you like!

NOTES
◎Choose good quality of coocnut milk and probiotics.
◎If your probiotics are less than 50 billion, add some more of them to be close to 50 billions.
◎Use a wood spoon.
